Discover World’s Most Expensive Perfume Worth US$1.3 Million

A large bottle of perfume, adorned with thousands of diamonds and other precious gems and pearls, is on sale for US$1.295 million (AED 4.752 million).

Released by the Spirit of Dubai Parfums, an ultra-luxury fragrance brand from the United Arab Emirates, the perfume is believed to be the most expensive in the world.

Dubbed SHUMUKH (meaning “deserving the highest” in Arabic), the unisex perfume sits in a bottle adorned with 3,571 diamonds (totaling 38.55 carats) and other pieces of gold, silver, pearls, and topaz, and it can be customized with even further jewels, according to the company.

The bottle of perfume, measuring 1.97 meters tall with its pedestal, is currently on display at The Dubai Mall through March 30.

Asghar Adam Ali (Al Attar), chairman and master perfumer at Nabeel Perfumes Group of Companies, along with artisans from Switzerland, Italy, and France, spent three years and 494 trials to formulate the perfume, according to the Spirit of Dubai.

SHUMUKH currently holds two Guinness World Records, including the most diamonds set on a perfume bottle, and the tallest remote-controlled fragrance spray product.

The bottle comes with gold or silver remote controls, to operate the automated perfume spray, and to rotate or adjust the height of the pedestal.

The three-liter perfume is comprised of natural ingredients sourced from around the globe, “culminating in a scent with notes of amber, sandalwood, musk, rare pure Indian Agarwood, pure Turkish rose, patchouli Ylang-Ylang, and frankincense that are estimated to last on the skin for more than 12 hours,” the company says.

Dubai is rising to be a global hub for some of the world’s most luxurious and expensive consumer products. Last September, Passion Jewellers Dubai launched a pair of shoes adorned with precious gemstones and 236 Flawless D diamonds. With a price tag of US$17 million, it became the world’s most expensive pair of shoes, Penta previously reported.
